Free Flood Home Mold Check for Buckhannon, Weston, Bridgeport & Clarksburg

The summer floods are months behind us, but in a lot of homes the water damage didn’t end when the water went down. Mold can grow in damp materials, including wall cavities, subfloors, insulation and crawl spaces that look dry from the outside.

If your home or rental took on water in the July or August storms, we’ll come do a free mold inspection. We cover Buckhannon, Weston, Bridgeport, Clarksburg and the rest of Upshur, Lewis and Harrison counties. Homeowners, landlords and renters are all welcome. You keep a PDF with the photos and moisture readings. No cost, no obligation.

Request your free Flood Home Mold Check or call or text (304) 439-6619. Offer runs through December 16, 2026.

Signs Your Flooded Home Needs a Mold Inspection

  • A musty or earthy smell, especially when the heat kicks on
  • Spots, stains or discoloration on drywall, baseboards or trim
  • Paint bubbling or peeling, or wallpaper lifting
  • Floors that feel soft or spongy, or are cupping or buckling
  • Drywall or insulation that got wet and was never taken out
  • A damp feel or condensation in the basement or crawl space

You don’t need to see mold to ask for a check. If water got in, it’s worth a look.

What the Free Mold Check Includes

  • A walk-through of every area the water reached with an IICRC-certified technician: basement, crawl space, first floor.
  • Moisture readings on walls, floors and framing to find dampness you can’t see.
  • Photos of what we find, room by room.
  • A PDF you keep with the photos and moisture readings. Share it with your insurance adjuster, your landlord or tenant, or anyone you choose. Ask your adjuster what documentation they need.
  • A plain-English explanation of what we found and what your options are. No pressure.

A Note on FEMA

The two floods are separate FEMA disasters with different rules. We can’t answer FEMA questions or tell you what FEMA will decide.

July 2026 flooding, Upshur & Lewis (DR-4932)

FEMA’s DR-4932 page says it may accept late applications within 60 days after the application period ends, reviewed case by case, and you’d need to explain the reason for the delay. Check fema.gov/disaster/4932 for the latest. More local help: our Upshur & Lewis flood recovery page.

August 2026 flooding, Harrison County (DR-4953)

FEMA is taking applications for DR-4953. FEMA’s disaster data lists December 7, 2026 as the last day to apply. Check fema.gov/disaster/4953 for the latest. More local help: our Bridgeport & Clarksburg flood recovery page.

For either disaster, apply or check your status at DisasterAssistance.gov, in the FEMA App, or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.

Questions Homeowners and Renters Ask

Is the mold check really free? Yes. The inspection is free, and you don’t have to hire us for anything.

Do I have to be home for the check? No. Just let us know how to get in and where the water reached.

I rent. Can I still get a check? Yes. Renters and landlords can both request one. If you rent, it’s a good idea to let your landlord know.

What do I get afterward? A PDF with the photos and moisture readings from your check, yours to keep.

Will the PDF help my insurance claim or my FEMA case? We can’t promise that. Your insurance company and FEMA make their own decisions. The PDF is a record of your home’s condition that you can share if you choose. Ask your adjuster what they need.

What happens if you find mold? We’ll show you what we found and explain your options. If you want us to do the work, we can handle the remediation and the rebuild. It’s your call.
