Building Demolition

Safe, Efficient Demolition and Site Preparation

Safe, Efficient Demolition and Site Preparation

Sometimes the best way forward is to clear the site and start over. Red Ridge Contracting provides residential and commercial demolition throughout central West Virginia, from removing a single damaged outbuilding to taking down a structure that can't be saved after a flood, storm or fire. We're a WV-licensed contractor (License #WV064509), and we can carry your project from demolition through rebuilding.

What We Demolish

  • Houses and mobile homes
  • Garages, barns, sheds and outbuildings
  • Commercial buildings
  • Interior demolition and selective tear-outs for remodels
  • Decks, porches and additions
  • Concrete slabs, footings and foundations

Demolition After Storm, Flood or Fire Damage

When a building has been badly damaged, it can become unsafe, attract pests, or hold moisture and mold. After the July 2026 flooding in Upshur and Lewis Counties, many property owners are weighing whether to repair or remove damaged structures. We can look at the damage with you during a free inspection and talk through the options honestly.

If the structure can be saved, we handle water damage restoration, storm damage repair, fire and smoke restoration and mold remediation. If it's a total loss, we can remove it and prepare the site for rebuilding. Local flood resources are on our Upshur and Lewis flood recovery page.

Demolition and Insurance

Some policies cover debris removal or demolition of a damaged structure as part of a claim. Coverage varies, so check your policy. We work with any and all insurance companies, provide documentation, and meet with your adjuster when needed. Learn more about insurance claim repairs →

Our Demolition Process

  1. Free site assessment. We evaluate the structure, utilities, access and potential hazards.
  2. Permits and utilities. We handle the required permits, coordinate utility disconnects and arrange asbestos testing.
  3. Safe demolition. The structure is taken down with appropriate equipment and safety practices.
  4. Debris removal. Materials are hauled away. Our dumpster rentals are available for owner-led cleanouts before demolition.
  5. Site cleanup. We leave the site cleared and ready for what's next, including slab and foundation removal and final grading.

Demolition Safety Standards

Safety comes first on every job. We protect neighboring property, manage dust and debris, and follow applicable regulations. Older buildings may contain hazardous materials such as asbestos or lead paint that require testing and proper handling before demolition. We coordinate that testing for you. We handle the whole job, from permits and testing to slab removal and final grading.

From Demolition to Rebuild

Because Red Ridge is also a general contractor, you don't have to find a new company once the site is clear. We can build a new home, garage or commercial space on the same site, keeping the project with one team from start to finish. Financing is available through Acorn Finance.

Repair or Demolish? Questions to Ask

It isn't always clear whether a damaged building is worth saving. Things to consider include how much of the framing and foundation is affected, whether the structure has sat wet for a long time, what your insurance policy covers, and what you ultimately want on the property. We'll walk the site with you, explain what we see, and give you a straightforward recommendation, whether that's restoration, partial tear-out or full removal.
